ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – As preparations gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election campaign, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), has reaffirmed his commitment to running an inclusive, people-oriented, and development-driven administration if elected Governor of the Gateway State.
Speaking during a series of strategic engagements held over the weekend at his office in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area, Senator Adeola expressed appreciation for the growing support he has continued to receive from individuals and groups across political party lines.
He assured stakeholders that his administration would be founded on inclusiveness and broad-based participation in governance.
“I want to reassure all my supporters, both old and new, that I will run an inclusive, people-oriented and development-focused government where no stakeholder will be left behind.
“My political philosophy is built around consultation, participation, and collective decision-making on issues relating to the socio-economic development of our state”, he stated.
Among the groups that met with the Senator were leaders of the Ogun East Assembly (YAYI APEX), Yayi Teachers, the Odogbolu Local Government Political Group, former PDP leaders and stakeholders from Ogun West Senatorial District, the Ògù General Assembly (Origin Group), and the Triple A (Team Akinlade) Group.
Prominent stakeholders at the engagements included Alhaja Salmot Badru, former Deputy Governor of Ogun State; Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, popularly known as Triple A and a former governorship candidate in the state; Hon. Jinadu Ahmed, a PDP stalwart of the LADO Group in Ogun West; and Comrade Sunday Odunaro, coordinator of Yayi Teachers across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State.
Highlighting his numerous developmental interventions across Ogun West, Ogun Central, and Ogun East Senatorial Districts, Senator Adeola pointed to projects spanning road construction, educational infrastructure, healthcare centres, street lighting, erosion control works, markets, and other constituency-based initiatives.
He stressed that the aspiration of producing a Governor of Ogun West extraction through his candidacy can only be achieved through unity, discipline, sacrifice, and sustained grassroots mobilization across all parts of the state.
According to him, his administration would not only build on his own developmental achievements across Ogun State, but would also consolidate on the accomplishments of the incumbent government, while ensuring that the state's resources are effectively deployed for the benefit of all residents.
Senator Adeola Yayi further assured his new supporters of a sense of belonging and meaningful participation in the political process, emphasizing his determination to continually engage aggrieved and dissatisfied stakeholders.
“I will convene additional reconciliation meetings involving stakeholders and aggrieved political actors to ensure inclusive participation and the integration of all support groups into campaign activities”, he promised.
Speaking during one of the engagements, Alhaja Salmot Badru expressed strong support for Senator Adeola Yayi’s governorship aspiration, describing the current moment as an opportunity for Ogun West to realize its long-standing ambition.
She commended the Senator Adeola Yayi’s developmental interventions, grassroots appeal, political inclusiveness, and commitment to the progress of Ogun State.
Badru emphasized the importance of unity, reconciliation, grassroots mobilization, and strategic coordination among supporters and stakeholders as the political process unfolds.
Also speaking, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, on behalf of his group and the new PDP supporters aligned with Senator Adeola Yayi’s aspiration, stated that the quest to elect the Senator as Governor transcends partisan politics and represents a historic opportunity to advance equity, justice, and fairness in the political evolution of Ogun State.
He noted that, much like the Ògù General Assembly, members of the various support groups seek equal treatment, recognition of their contributions, inclusion in campaign structures, and opportunities for participation in governance.
Akinlade maintained that the movement for an Ogun West governor has become a collective cause that required the support and cooperation of all stakeholders committed to fairness, inclusiveness, and the continued development of Ogun State.
