A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Hon. Kayode Oladele, has assured stakeholders in Ogun West Senatorial District that the zone will not field multiple governorship candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking against the backdrop of growing political consultations ahead of the next election cycle, Oladele emphasized that Ogun West would remain united and strategic in its political engagement, stressing that only a credible and winnable candidate with broad statewide appeal would enjoy the support of stakeholders from the district.
According to him, unity is critical to strengthening Ogun West’s political relevance and bargaining power within the APC.
“Our goal is to deliver the senatorial district for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and produce the next Governor of the State with an overwhelming margin of victory never experienced in the history of gubernatorial elections in Ogun State,” he said.
Responding to a reporter’s question on whether Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi fits the credentials earlier outlined, Oladele said the facts on ground clearly support the suitability of the lawmaker beyond his personal opinion.
He noted that Yayi’s political structure, electoral strength and grassroots reach across the state place him in strong contention within the party.
While stressing that the final decision rests with the APC and its stakeholders, Oladele admitted that Senator Adeola remains the popular choice.
He further urged political leaders and stakeholders in Ogun West to place collective interest above personal ambition, adding that consultations were ongoing to ensure unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
